Presidential Debate 2016

Election 2016

Although Secretary Clinton was the clear winner of the first presidential debate, there were a few things I wish she would have jumped on that she seemed to have missed.
Top of the list is Trump's maintaining that he will bring jobs back to America. What jobs is he talking about? He blatantly mentioned his investments and buildings in Europe during the debate. How did his foreign projects contribute to making America great?

Writing for Online Reading:
How Long Is Too Long?

measuring length

It probably comes as no surprise to anyone familiar with reading on the web that narrow text column widths are preferable to wide ones. Because web designers pay attention to resolutions and screen sizes, most templates are designed so that the active window is the appropriate column width. The length (inch-wise) of an article is more important to the webmaster.

You know more about dog training than you think you do.
Training a dog is not rocket science. How and where you live with your dog dictates the amount of training he needs. A great deal of training is done unconsciously. In fact, if your dog knows any of the following, it is due to training:

Clean Writing: How to Avoid
the Muckrakers and the Mob

There are two sides to every issue, pro and con. The phrase comes from the Roman, pro et contra, meaning for and against. Funny thing is, whichever side we are on, we tend to believe we are on the pro side. It is easy to become antagonistic towards the cons, to believe the worst about the issue as well as the people on that other side.

Bafoon: Mirror on Trump

Dorian Gray

Bill Mahr compares Donald Trump to an orangutan, but he may have the wrong species in mind. The other day, someone on Twitter mistakenly called Trump a "bafoon". President of Us All

Man in trashbasket

At the DNC Clinton said she will be President of us all. Maybe someone needs to remind her of that.

What you say might be less important than how you say it.
This holds true, in fact, even truer for material that is published on the web.

One Bright Star

I sit here tonight and watch the star that I have "found" in the heavens. Memories collide and I am reminded of a sweaty little palm that held tightly onto my hand, a palm that, too quickly, slipped from my grasp.

The Truth About Low Maintenance Dogs

Low Maintenance Dogs

If you frequent pet-centered forums, you've probably seen at least one question inquiring about which breeds of dogs are low-maintenance. I've come to the conclusion that these questioners mistakenly think that getting a dog is like deciding between Android vs. iPhone.

Eggcorns: Playful Words

eggcorn

You're heard of a play on words. Eggcorns are playful words that put distinction in your characters and add humor to your writing.
One of the fun things about the English language is that it is constantly changing and as it changes, it isn't afraid to laugh at itself.
If you are looking for a way to add a fresh and funny face to your writing, try an eggcorn.
