Giving solace to someone in the throes of depression can be tricky. Approach them one way and they are irritable, the other way they are despondent. Loved ones may feel damned if they do and damned if they don't. Do less than you think you need to. As with many situations, less is often more.
Has anyone ever told you to stop beating yourself up? That's something those with depression hear on a regular basis from well-meaning friends and loved-ones. Do they ask you what's wrong, why are you sad, crying, and/or irritable? You only wish you knew, right? That is what is wrong with depression.
Happy holidays? This season to be jolly is one of the worst times of the year for many of those who suffer with the disease of depression. One of the best gifts you can give this season is compassion for those who aren't merry.
