Fear of Heights May be a Physical Condition: BPPV

Ferris wheel

I don't know why or when it happened, but I don't remember a time when I wasn't afraid of heights. Even so, I do remember diving from the "high" board at our municipal swimming pool and I did enjoy riding the Ferris wheel and roller coaster when the carnival came to town. As I grew older, though, the fear became stronger, until finally I had no choice but to keep my feet firmly planted on the ground.

The Importance of Second Opinions:
A Lazy Eye Experience

doctor giving advice

For many years, I was intimidated by doctors. I grew up thinking the doctor was always right. I have a crooked little finger that resulted from a doctor telling my mom it wasn't broken. It apparently was. It wasn't until I had children of my own that I learned the value of getting a second opinion when you have any question at all about your doctor's diagnosis or the treatment he or she may recommend.

An Update: Lifting the Nicotine Fog

smoker at graveyard

Understanding Epilepsy in Dogs

our dog,Bailey Jenkinson

Epilepsy is found in all breeds and mixed breeds of dogs, that's why I am really glad we knew Gracie. If you have a child who tries to climb the walls, you know that ADHD is a real and horrible condition. Those scoffers, who think they have a cannon in the fight against big pharma and big chemical companies, are in the wrong part of the battlefield.

Doggy Diarrhea

Sick Puppy

One of the most frustrating aspects of having a dog is that he can't tell you when he is sick. In fact, a lot of dogs are pros at hiding illness until their symptoms become physical. These tell-tale signs of illness are often, well … funky. For instance, diarrhea. Even after it starts, the why of it can remain a mystery.

Can't Fight Those Feelings

Depression can put your life out of sync with the world. One of the most insidious things about depression is that it can make you feel like you don't deserve to be here. Depression can make you believe that the world would be a better place and that your family and friends would, indeed, be happier if you weren't in it. Fighting those feelings on your own can be near impossible.

Coping With a Loved One's Depression

frustrated man

Giving solace to someone in the throes of depression can be tricky. Approach them one way and they are irritable, the other way they are despondent. Loved ones may feel damned if they do and damned if they don't. Do less than you think you need to. As with many situations, less is often more.
