Her tears held the page in place

A torrent of emotion obscured its face,

In words smeared and blurred

Their meaning lost.

The page was

Torn,

Mangled,

Tossed

Into the space of memory.

A mind cluttered with

Crumpled words like flies

Trapped in cobwebs,

Clinging to the corners

Of a room

Still buzzing

In the rustle of

An impatient broom

That lies in wait

To sweep the rubbish clean,

And leave no litter in between

Weathered planks in a dimpled floor.

To scour the past

Before the words strike back

Delivering a counter blow,

That stains the present

And forever

Seeps into

Tomorrow.
